Stephen Huffman is a trusted member of the SKO-GOV team, where he serves as a consultant, guiding clients and partners in developing innovative and effective government relations strategies. Stephen has been managing partner of a successful government relations firm, and his years of experience working with and for government entities includes a tenure as Chief of Staff to Lt. Governor Steve Pence and to Kentucky’s Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, where he oversaw the Department of Corrections, Homeland Security, Juvenile Justice, and the Kentucky State Police and coordinated and advised legislative, personnel, and policy matters for the Cabinet and its 8000 employees. Stephen was also selected to be a member of the state marketing (Unbridled Spirit) procurement committee.
Stephen’s expertise includes identification of and communication with stakeholders and advocates, and he has a talent for developing strategies that merge client needs and common-sense approaches that appeal to policymakers and the public. His strategic vision was recognized by then-Lexington Mayor Jim Gray (now Secretary of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet), who appointed Stephen to the Rupp Arena, Arts and Entertainment Task Force, which nominated Stephen to be one of seven members of the procurement selection committee that interviewed and chose the Master Planner. Most recently, he led the effort to successfully legalize historical horse racing in the Commonwealth. Stephen is a member of the Republican Party of Kentucky and served on the State Board of Elections for over eight years. |
